Yule is placed at the Winter Solstice and occurs on December 21. We are in the direction of the North when the days are shortest in the Northern Hemisphere. This is the resting time, the time between death and rebirth. It is the darkest fallow time. The time to deeply rest. Not much can be done when the weather keeps us inside so we conserve our energy, eat less, move less and wait. We celebrate the return of the light at Yule because from this point the light begins to increase and the promise that life and growth will return again as it does in every earthly cycle.
We will explore the symbols and actions appropriate to the beginning of this part of the natural cycle and our relationship to the element of the moment. We will build the altar for the ceremony at hand. This is a show and tell moment. Please bring items related to this time of year as we acknowledge, participate and experience ourselves arising from the Earth.
