Construction Noise & Disruptions

We strive to keep you informed of our construction activities to the best of our ability so that you can plan your visits accordingly. Because we are operating in a variable phase of construction, there will be times when we cannot forecast a specific project. Often this is because we have to respond to a changing construction schedule or rectify an emerging issue. We apologize in advance for any inconveniences. Thank you for your patience as we continue our work to restore Harbin’s full facilities, amenities, and services.

  • PG&E Planned Power Outages:

6/3/2026: Affecting the Grove Cottages from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Parking will be limited in that area. Please plan accordingly. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

    6/17/2026:
The LAST scheduled Pre-Planned Power Outage for our on-going project, is scheduled for 6/17/2026. This P.P.O. will affect ALL of Harbin Proper. The incoming power will be shut-off at the front gate, and will be off from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  • Construction is ongoing for two new Mainside Hotels, Walnut and Azalea. We apologize for the noise and we look forward to, once again, offering lodging located just steps away from the pools.

  • Construction is ongoing on the Harbin Restaurant. We sincerely appreciate your understanding for the noise and we look forward to serving you delicious, nutritious food in Harbin's new dining room once complete.

  • Pool and Poolside Maintenance Day (Alligator Day)
First Tuesday of every month, unless otherwise noted.
On “Alligator Day” the warm pool is drained around 2AM, allowing us to make repairs and do maintenance on the water purification system. The cold plunge, warm pool and hot plunge are not available for use until they have been filled. Available pools on Alligator Day are Sauna Hot Plunge, Sauna Cold Plunge, Heart Shaped Pool, and Swimming Pool. We use this day to complete other maintenance projects around the pool area, so do expect noise and possible disruption of guest services.

What to Expect

If you are visiting for the first time or if you haven’t visited since before the fire in 2015, here is some helpful information.
Check-in location:
Most times of the day, you will pass the front kiosk and follow signs to our registration area, which is located in the main parking lot. Please park here temporarily while you check in at our reception office. If the main Reception Office is closed, please report to the Front Kiosk for check-in, open 24/7. Be sure to have your driver's license or photo ID card ready at check-in for all guests age 18+.
Parking & Vehicle Access:
Parking near mainside is limited. Please expect an uphill walk to the pool area. Only guests with displayed ADA Parking Permits are allowed to drive up to or park near the pool area. We offer two EV charging stations in the Meadow Campground, not far from the Grove Cottages. Inquire at the Reception office for charging station access. Please be mindful of the time so the station may be available for other guests.
Accessibility at Pools:
Our guests with disabilities will find the improved accessibility at the pool area much more accommodating than before 2015. See the Pools page for details.
Towels:
Please bring your own beach towels for use at the pools. Room towels will be replaced upon request by contacting the Reception office. Please do not bring room towels up to the pools, as their disappearance adds to the cost of your retreat. Towels for pool use are available at the reception desk for purchase.
Personal Storage:
Please keep your food and all valuables (including cameras, computers, tablets, phones, and all electronic wearables) securely locked in your vehicle. We provide key code lock cell phone charging stations in the food court for guests to use.

There are two changing rooms for storing your personal belongings and protecting your items from sun and rain. Lockers are provided. Please bring your padlock with you. Fern Dressing Room closes from 12:15am to 3am for cleaning so please ensure all personal belongings are removed by 12:15am. Items left behind in Fern Dressing Room after 12:15am will be placed in Lost & Found.
Sun & Rain:
Please bring what you will need to protect yourself appropriately from the elements, including sunscreen, a hat, protective clothing, and rain gear during the wet season.
Hiking Trails:
We have many trails to explore. See the Hiking page for details.
Vehicle Length Limit of 24′:
Please call ahead for RV reservations. Our parking and turn-around areas are few and small. We need to limit vehicle size for access and safety reasons. The length of your vehicle may not exceed 24’ and 2 axles. A Travel Trailer alone can be 24’ without the vehicle attached. You will be asked to detach it from your vehicle for your stay.
Fire:
For obvious reasons, smoking, incense and candles are not allowed in your room. (The smoking deck – tobacco only – is located in the upper parking lot.) If the fire siren should sound, calmly evacuate to the designated area or await instructions if the road is blocked.
Quiet:
Please keep noise to a minimum, especially after 10pm.
Quiet time is 10pm – 10am.
Phones:
Cell phones are allowed for quiet conversation (no video chat) in the lower parking lot, Domes parking lot (away from guests), Reception office and Café.
A public pay phone is located on the porch of the main Reception office.
Courtesy phones are located outside the Reception office, in the lower dressing room, at the elevator on both the upper and lower levels, in the Domes dressing room, and in the Meadow. In case of an emergency, dial 1-707-987-2004 on any courtesy phone.
Lost & Found:
Please call 1-707-987-2477 ext. 5103 or email lostandfound@harbin.org.

Visiting with Children

Harbin Hot Springs is a quiet and rustic retreat center designed primarily for adults. Our goal is to preserve a restful retreat atmosphere for all of our guests, so please familiarize yourself with the following rules, as they are strictly enforced.

Children under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. We highly recommend that at least two adults arrive prepared to take turns supervising a child, freeing each other to enjoy a soak, massage, meditation or other activities.

– A reservation or pre-check-in may not be booked solely for a child. A child’s visit must be part of another adult’s reservation.

– We offer very limited lodging options for families, because they are limited, we recommend reserving them well in advance of your stay.

– Much of Harbin is a construction zone, so parents should be especially vigilant around active projects or equipment.

Children at the pools:

Children are allowed in the Mainside area from 10AM to 8PM in the summer months, or 10AM to sundown in the winter. This includes the pools, sundecks and dressing area.

Children may only use the heart-shaped pool and large swimming pool.

– Children are not allowed in the warm pool, hot pools, cold plunges or the sauna/ steam rooms.

Children not toilet-trained must wear plastic pants.

No screaming or diving. We expect you to monitor your children’s behavior at all times.
If you have questions or concerns about our policies for families, please contact the Reception office (9am – 7pm), or security personnel after hours.
