What to Expect
If you are visiting for the first time or if you haven’t visited since before the fire in 2015, you might wonder what to expect. Here is some helpful information.
Check-in location
Most times of the day, you will pass the front kiosk and follow signs to our registration area, which is located in the main parking lot. Please park here temporarily while you check in at our reception office. If the main Reception Office is closed, please report to the Front Kiosk for check-in, open 24/7.
Parking & Vehicle Access
Parking near mainside is limited. Please expect an uphill walk to the pool area. Only guests with displayed ADA Parking Permits are allowed to drive up to or park near the pool area. We offer two EV charging stations in the Meadow Campground, not far from the Grove Cottages. Inquire at the Reception office for charging station access, and please be mindful of the time so the station may be available for other guests.
Checking Out
Check-out time is 11am. We are unable to accommodate late check-outs. Please assist our Housekeeping staff by checking out promptly! You are welcome to move your belongings to your vehicle, and enjoy the pools, restaurant or other Mainside services for the remainder of your 24-hour visit. If the office is closed when you depart, drop your keys at the kiosk.
Accessibility at Pools
Our guests with disabilities will find the improved accessibility at the pool area much more accommodating than before 2015.
See the Pools page for details.
Towels
Please bring your own beach towels for use at the pools. Room towels will be replaced upon request by contacting the Reception office. Please do not bring room towels up to the pools, as their disappearance adds to the cost of your retreat. Towels for pool use are available at the reception desk for purchase.
Personal Storage
There is currently one area at the pools for storing your personal property and protecting it from sun and rain. Please plan to lock your food and all valuables (including cameras, computers, tablets, phones, and all electronic wearables) in your vehicle. We now provide a secure key code locked cell charging station in the food court you may use.
Sun & Rain
The fire left us with less shade and few indoor spaces where you can escape the weather. Please bring what you will need to protect yourself appropriately from the elements, including sunscreen, a hat, protective clothing, and rain gear during the wet season.
Hiking Trails
We have many trails to explore.
See the Hiking page for details.
Vehicle Length Limit of 24′
Our parking and turn-around areas are few and small. We need to limit vehicle size for access and safety reasons. The length of your vehicle may not exceed 24’ and 2 axles. A Travel Trailer alone can be 24’ without the vehicle attached. You will be asked to detach it from your vehicle for your stay.
Fire
For obvious reasons, smoking, incense and candles are not allowed in your room. (The smoking deck – tobacco only – is located in the upper parking lot.) If the fire siren should sound, calmly evacuate to the designated area or await instructions if the road is blocked.
Quiet
Please keep noise to a minimum, especially after 10pm. Your neighbors will appreciate your consideration.
Quiet time, 10pm – 10am.
Phones
Cell phones are allowed for quiet conversation (no video chat) in the lower parking lot, Domes parking lot (away from guests), Reception office and Café.
• A public pay phone is located on the porch of the main Reception office.
• Courtesy phones are located outside the Reception office, in the lower dressing room, at the elevator on both the upper and lower levels, in the Domes dressing room, and in the Meadow. In case of an emergency, dial 1-707-987-2004 on any courtesy phone.
