Rebuilding Harbin is a chance to use modern efficient building methods and implement alternative energy systems. Almost all of Harbin’s pre-fire buildings were turn of the century historic structures. Like beautiful antiques, the character and charm of the original historic hotel buildings is irreplaceable. We can not replace the past. But we can look forward by rebuilding sustainably.

In the 1990’s, solar was installed at the Harbin Domes to take advantage of Harbin’s abundant sunshine. Now, we work closely with Northern California architect, Lars Langberg Architects, rebuilding Harbin's facilities using the most appropriate and environmentally friendly materials and building strategies. Harbin has a unique architectural past. At this time in Harbin's long history, we are planning ahead thoughtfully to prioritize a healthy ecosystem for future generations.

Solar panels cover The Domes parking lot. And we are in the initial phases of constructing a Tiltport solar parking structure in the Reception parking lot.

EV Charging Stations We now offer two EV Charging Stations and look forward to adding even more in the future. Charging stations are available for guests with an additional fee. We offer two EV charging stations in the Meadow Campground, not far from the Grove Cottages. Inquire at the Reception office for charging station access, and please be mindful of the time so the station may be available for other guests.

Pools Harbin’s pools are heated with the natural temperatures of the hot spring water. The newer hot plunge is heated with an energy efficient heating system to maintain a constant temperature.

Housekeeping We use biodegradable eco-friendly detergents and soaps. We encourage guests to reuse their room towels and linens.

Rooms We use energy efficient HVAC systems and appliances in rooms.

Food Services We offer compostable food containers and compost green waste from Landscaping.
