Recently we began setting up a Fundraising “Pop-Up Table” in the Food Court at Harbin offering select Harbin merchandise for suggested donations, sharing information about our recent rebuild successes, the new Harbin EcoFarm, and talking about our hopes and dreams for the future.
Two weeks ago we acted upon an idea which came about when two of us arrived to set up the Pop-Up Table wearing tie-dyes. How about a FUNraising event offering white Harbin Hot Springs Logo T-Shirts for $20 donation with an amateur tie-dye setup to dye your own shirt! Last week on Thursday morning we started dying around 10am at the Garden Pavilion after rounding up anyone interested.

We achieved our goal of FUN and we spread more awareness of our ongoing efforts to return our rustic retreat to similar services as offered pre-fire.
Some topics we discussed were memories of the Stonefront Building, the former location of the Harbin Restaurant, considered a highlight of our amenities before the fire destroyed the building. Much like the Stonefront Building the new Harbin Restaurant building will remain open to guests 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even while meals are not being served. It will serve as our indoor social center, with icy cold water and steaming hot water in a climate controlled space with a backup generator to keep our guests comfortable, even in extreme weather. The building will serve as a place to meet friends, old or new, and re-acquaint ourselves with well loved favorite recipes, served up with smiles.

We also celebrated the arrival of the new hotel buildings, Walnut and Azalea. As we were dyeing T-Shirts and having fun the brand new hotel buildings were being placed by an enormous crane just below the pools, and just above the New Harbin Restaurant. Even the pre-fabricated modular components bear a remarkable resemblance to the simple rustic Victorian style original buildings, with wide walking porches and stairs on the outside. Designed by Lars Langberg Architects, (https://larsarchitects.com/) who also designed the eco-friendly new Domes buildings, we loved hearing the positive reactions from guests exclaiming how the new hotels still have that “hard to define grace” the old hotels exuded. You can see more photos of the construction here, on our photo gallery.
The future looks very enticing and we hope you love what we have done and can help us by donating! We’ve said all along this is a collaboration and we cannot Rebuild this work of art without your help! So much progress and yet so much to do!
We are planning another Tie-Dye Pop-Up Table soon and we'll post on social media once we have the date confirmed. Hope to see you there! In the meantime, please visit our donation page. Any amount helps us complete this decade long rebuilding project. We couldn't do it without the support of our guests!
